Cold-Shooting Second Half Dooms Men’s Hoops

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - Laramie County Community College men's basketball shot just 13-for-37 in the second half and fell late to Air Force Prep, 72-71, on Friday evening in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The Golden Eagles (8-6) had a four point lead with under a minute remaining left in the game, but were unable to hold on as Air Force Prep connected on a basket with a little under five second remaining to take the lead.

Leading the Blue and Gold offensively for the afternoon was sophomore Alfonzo Anderson, who finished with 20 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Elijah Oliver finished with 19 points, five rebounds, two steals and two assists.

After shooting 16-for32 in the opening half, Laramie County went cold after the break, shooting 35.1 percent in the second half. The Golden Eagles defense was able to hold AFP to 34.6 percent shooting in the second half, but they got to the foul line 14 times in the second half, converting on 12 of them.

The Golden Eagles return to action after the holiday break in the first of a two-game home stand when they take on Otero Junior College on Wednesday, Jan. 4. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
