Golden Eagles Hang on to Top Casper College

Cheyenne, Wyoming – The Laramie County Community College Men's Basketball team had a rough start to the season with a 0-5 record to begin the year. Since then the Golden Eagles (8-5) have put together an eight game winning streak as they dropped Casper College 82-71 at home.

Casper started the game on a 5-0 run but that didn't bother the Golden Eagles as they leveled the game up as 12 apiece about midway through. Ola Ayodele threw down a massive dunk to pull the Golden Eagles within one with a little over seven minutes remaining in the first half. Casper would go on a run and have their largest lead of the game (7) with 3:35 to go in the half. Elijah Oliver would then knock down three big 3-pointers to push the Golden Eagles into the lead at the half 40-37.

The second half would be all Golden Eagles with short spurts by Casper to close the gap. LCCC would push the lead up to nine in the first five minutes of the second half and not look back. The Thunderbirds would get back within four but LCCC knocked down some free-throws late in the game.

The Golden Eagles were led by sophomore Ola Ayodele's 22 point outing. Alfonzo Anderson and Elijah Oliver had 19 and 18 points respectively. Sophomore Dominik Heinzl also chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds. Anderson completed the double-double pulling down 12 rebounds in the win.

The Golden Eagles will be on the road to Colorado Springs on Friday December 9th to take on Air Force Prep.
