Early Spark Burst Men’s Basketball Past Western Wyoming

CHEYENNE, WY – A double-digit halftime lead combined with lengthy scoring droughts for the Mustangs allowed Laramie County to come away with a 89-69 wing over the Western Wyoming Community College men's basketball team on Saturday afternoon at the Recreation Athletics Complex.

Dominik Heinzl and Alfonzo Anderson each had 15 points as the Golden Eagles shot 63.5 percent from the floor and made 11 three-pointers.

Western Wyoming was paced by Callum Lawson who finished with 19 points. Three Mustangs finished with 12 points, Earl Russell, Tayler Marteliz and Tyrell Isaacs. WWCC shot 46.3 percent from the floor and shot 50 percent from the outside. The Golden Eagles led 48-34 at the break.

Laramie County (2-5) continued to battle and shot well by firing 71.4 percent from the field in the second half. Elijah Oliver had 14 points and Harrison Meads chipped in with 11 points. Anderson and Da'Zhon Wyche dished out six assists.

LCCC finished with a 28-19 advantage in rebounds and scored 12 points from the line. LCCC will continue its home stand on Tuesday evening against Northwest Kansas Technical College at 7 p.m.
