Golden Eagles Too Much for Rustlers in Home Win

CHEYENNE, WY – Three Laramie County CC players finished in double figures and came back from a halftime deficit to secure a 76-62 win against the Central Wyoming College men's basketball team on Friday night at the Recreation Athletic Complex.

Da'Zhon Wyche had a team-best 21 points and Elijah Oliver added 18 points off the bench. Laramie County (1-5) struggled against a tough Rustlers squad in the first meeting last weekend losing 82-64. These teams are evenly match and it showed Friday night as the Golden Eagles only held the Rustlers 62 points on the night.

Marcus Nolan led Central Wyoming with 16 points while Irshaad Hunte had 12 and Chris Quayle had 11. The Rustlers shot 39 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the line. The Golden Eagles shot 42.4 percent from the floor and 64.7 percent from the line.

Early in the contest, Laramie County trailed by four, 10-6. With 11:21 remaining in the first half Kyle Wright gave the Golden Eagles their first lead at 11-10. Both teams would exchange leads through the half before the Rustlers gained the edge at the half, 32-30.

The Golden Eagles fell behind by as many as six in early in the second half before regaining the lead with 8:29 remaining left to play in the contest. The Golden Eagles pushed the tempo and extended the lead to as high as 16. LCCC would take the second meeting 76-62.

LCCC will host Western Wyoming Community College on Saturday at 4 p.m.
