Men’s Basketball Falls to Casper in 69-56 Loss on Tuesday

CASPER, Wy. – Sophomore Alfonzo Anderson and Dominik Heinzl put together a solid performance combining for 33 points, but late run and free throws allowed Casper College to get the win over the Golden Eagles, 69-56, on Tuesday evening at the Swede Gymnasium in Casper, Wyoming.

Anderson and Heinzl played 39 and 30 minutes respectively and were tough on both ends of the floor. Anderson finished with 17 points on 5-17 shooting, six rebounds, and three assists. Heinzl had 16 points, three rebounds and a steal.

Casper outshot the Golden Eagles in two of the three shooting categories. The Golden Eagles connected on 29.7 percent from the floor, 22.7 percent from the outside and 72.2 percent from the line. LCCC hit 5 of 22 from the three-point line with all five coming in the first half. They were 0-12 in the second half.

The Thunderbirds bested the Golden Eagles on the glass (46-33) but it was Laramie County's defense that forced 24 turnovers.

Da'Zhon Wyche was solid running the point for Laramie County as he had three assists, three steals and only committed two turnovers.

The Golden Eagles (0-5) edged Casper in points off turnovers (25-13). Harrison Meads added seven points and battled throughout the night pulling eight rebounds.

For the T-Birds, Don Jarrett Jr. led all scorers with 18 points on 7-9 shooting from the field. Deante Strickland had 13 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Off the bench, Shea Garland provided 11 points.

LCCC will be back at home for a contest against Central Wyoming College on Friday evening at 7 p.m. in the first match of the Golden Eagle Classic.
