Five LCCC Esports teams and individuals qualify for postseason play

CHEYENNE, WY – The postseason begins this week for the LCCC esports teams and there are five Golden Eagle individuals and teams to follow along as they begin their quest for the third national title for the program in just its third full season.

The featured team will be the defending national champion Call of Duty: Warzone team. With the return of 2023 Spring Champion Dimitrios Chronopoulos and 2022 Spring Champion Isiaha Ahrens coming back to the roster, the Golden Eagles didn’t drop a match until the final week of the regular season and are entering the playoffs as the top overall seed.

They will face off with Shelton State Community College in the opening round on December 1st at 4:00 pm. The Buccaneers finished the regular season at 1-6 and LCCC took them down 2-0 in the regular season.

Alongside the Warzone team, the Rainbow Six: Siege team also has high expectations for the postseason after a run to the semi-finals last season.

This year, they finish the regular season at 6-1 and as the #2 seed in the postseason field of eight. They will open play against Iowa Central Community College on Friday, December 1st at 5:00 pm. Iowa Central finished the year 4-3 and the two sides did not face each other in the regular season.

On the individual side, three Golden Eagles made the postseason including Vyctoria McCormick in Super Smash Bro’s Ultimate and Deigo Frometa-Batezini and Chet Hall earning the nod in Street Fighter 6.

McCormick had to finish with a win in a make-up round to earn a spot in the final field, defeating Northland Community and Technical College 3-0 last Tuesday to move into the final postseason field as the #95 seed.

She will be facing off against #34 Terra State Community College in the opening round of the 128-player double elimination tournament. Action begins with a guaranteed two matches on Tuesday, November 28th at 4:00 pm.

Joining her on the individual side will be both Frometa-Batezini and Hall, who both are in the 17-competitor field for the Street Fighter Open Championship beginning on Thursday with matches beginning at 4:00 pm.
