Esports seeing varied success through three weeks of the Fall season

CHEYENNE, WY – The Laramie County Community College esports teams have finished the first three weeks of their seasons with varied amounts of success on the consoles and are being paced by some of the returners from last springs success in Call of Duty: Warzone and Rainbow Six: Siege.

The defending Warzone champs entered the Fall season with a change to the roster with Isiaha Ahrens returning to join Dimitrios Chronopolous on the main team. The duo moved to 3-0 on the season after facing off against their own teammates in week three and dispatching them 2-0.

The top team for LCCC had a small scare against Northland Community and Technical College in week two but remained at the top of the standings through the first half with no signs of slowing down.

The season started out uneventfully for the Golden Eagles in Rainbow Six, picking up a bye in their first week of the season and downing Harrisburg Area Community College 2-0 in the first match. LCCC found a tough loss to the hands of Marshalltown Community College in week three and sit in third place in the eleven-team field going into the midway point of the year.

In one of the deeper and more challenging titles in the entire esports catalog, LCCC has seen some success brewing in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Victoria McCormick earned her first win of the season to move to 1-1 after defeating Missouri State University – West Plains 3-0. Isaac Lanning is still in search of his first win after dropping to 0-3 with a loss to Hinds Community College.

Lanning is still well in the running to make the postseason as the field includes 128 that qualify for the postseason.

In Mario Kart 8, the Golden Eagles have been in a learning curve as this is the team's first attempt at the title. McCormick has a 1-2 record through three matches with the win coming against Coastal Bend in week two. Lanning sits at 0-3 but came just short of a victory in week one, falling 4-3 to Eastern Arizona College.

In the open season challenge, the Golden Eagles have a pair in the Street Fighter 6 and Frometa-Batezini has been able to establish himself in the top five in the open category with just a few weeks remaining in the season. With eight matches this year, Frometa-Batezini has played more matches than any of the other competitors and has gone 4-4.

Also sitting at .500 at 2-2 is Chet Hall. Frometa-Batezini was the only one to compete in the latest week, earning a 3-0 win over Yavapai College which snapped a two-game losing streak.
