Warzone, Rainbow Six, clinch postseason berths with two weeks remaining

CHEYENNE, WY – The Laramie County Community College esports team has less than two full weeks of the season remaining and has several teams in the hunt to qualify for the postseason beginning on November 27th.

The defending National Champion Call of Duty: Warzone team continues to be the cream of the crop in the regular season after moving to 5-0 with a forfeit win over Gogebic Community College and a 2-0 sweep of Iowa Western Community College.

Dimitrios Chronopoulos and Isaiha Ahrens have clinched a bid to the postseason and two more wins will clinch the top overall seed entering the playoffs.

One of the hottest teams for the LCCC continues to be the Rainbow Six: Siege team who moved to 4-1 on the year after a 2-0 win over Northwest College last week. They also have guaranteed themselves a spot in the postseason with eight of the 12 teams in the league making the field.

The Golden Eagles are searching for a chance to make it to the championship game after falling in the semi-finals in the 2023 Spring season.

The Golden Eagles are in position to get a pair of athletes into the postseason in the Street Fighter 6 open season. Diego Frometa-Batezini has played more matches than any other competitor in the field and his 5-5 record has him in 6th place in the field.

Behind him in 12th place is Chet Hall who has also gone .500 in his matches and is at 3-3 on the season. There are 27 total teams competing and both LCCC competitors should make the playoffs.

In the world of Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, the Golden Eagles duo hit a rough stretch over the last two weeks going 0-4 in their matches. The top 128 teams make the postseason field and with just one week of matches remaining, Vyctoria McCormick is currently at 2-3 on the year and at 108th in the standings and a win next week would secure a spot in the postseason field.

For Isaac Lanning, the season turned out to be a learning experience and he looks to avoid a 0-6 year in the final week of the season when they compete on Tuesday at 4:00 pm.

The duo of McCormick and Lanning also compete in Mario Kart 8, and the season has seen a lot of growing pains for the team with only one win between the pair. McCormick sits in 51st place with a 1-3 record going into their Thursday match for week six while Lanning is at 0-5 and in search of that first win.
