All of the LCCC Esports teams are seeing success in opening weeks

 CHEYENNE, WY – The Laramie County Community College esports team is has wrapped up their second week for most games and every team has picked up at least one win in their respective titles so far.


LEAGUE OF LEGENDS

The Golden Eagles have one team which got their season started early and League of Legends has picked up three wins to just two losses in on of the more established games in the esports library.

The season opened with a dominant performance over the Western Cavaliers, picking up 57 kills to just 22 deaths and rolling to a 2-0 victory to open the season. It was more of the same in match two of the season against Anne Arundel Community College as another sweep moved the Golden Eagles to 2-0 on the year.

The undefeated run ended against Heartland Community College and Camden County Community College who both picked up 2-0 wins over LCCC and dropped the Golden Eagles back to .500 in league play and a forfeit in their last action from Suffolk County Community College brought the record to 3-2 with two weeks remaining in the Golden Eagles season.

The team sits in 9th in the overall standings out of 17 in the league.


COD: Modern Warfare II (4 vs 4)

The Golden Eagles once again made it into the Invitation Season for the four versus four Call of Duty season marking the second straight season they made the top tier.

The season started out with a strong showing against Hutchinson Community College for a 3-1 victory but Tallahassee Community College brought the Golden Eagles back to 1-1 with a victory in week two.

The Golden Eagles officially picked up a forfeit win when Calhoun Community College forfeited their matches in the invitational season moving them to 2-1 going into week three of the year and in the middle of the 10 team standings.


RAINBOW SIX: SEIGE

After their inaugural season in the fall, the Golden Eagles have seen the most improvement going into the spring from the Siege Six team who have picked up a 2-1 record going into the third week of the season.

The Golden Eagles received an early season forfeit from Dallas College – North Lake who couldn’t partake in the season, but after dropping their opening round matchup with the University of South Carolina – Sumpter the squad bounced back with a 2-0 run over Lake Area Community College to remain above .500 and currently sit in 5th in the 10 team group.


HEARTHSTONE

For the first time, the Golden Eagles are competing in Hearthstone which is a World of Warcraft based game being played by freshman Marek Ernst.

Ernst has gone to five rounds in each of his two matches so far in a best-of-five format and after dropping his opening round match with Hocking College’s “Himothy”, the Golden Eagle turned it around against another Hocking College Hawk to defeat “Vondell20” in his second game to move to 1-1 on the season going into the third week.


CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE

The Golden Eagles Call of Duty: Warzone team has had a complete overhaul this year with the former national champions moving on and the reigns being taken over by Andrew Santhuff and Dimitrios Chronopoulos.

The Golden Eagles took a loss in their second game against Catawba Valley but had picked up a win against Southwest Technical College in their opening game. Both matches were played during the second week after server issues force the season to be delayed for the Golden Eagles, but the team should be back on track as they head into week three in the middle of the pack of their group.


OVERWATCH 2

After picking up a forfeit win from the Monroe Mustangs, the LCCC Overwatch 2 team faced off with Dallas College – Richland in their first official match of the Spring 2022 season. The match didn’t go the way the Golden Eagles were wanting it to go, but they did take a round off of the Thunderducks before falling 3-1.

The Golden Eagles will look to move out of the three way tie at the bottom of the standings when they face State Technical College of Missouri in their week three match
