CHEYENNE, WY - The final tally is in from the Laramie County Community College volleyball teams "Flight for a Cure" Fundraiser for local cancer patient services.
After a season long effort to raise awareness for the fundraiser which included t-shirt sales and appearances to promote the two game series with Casper College that was started in the 2023 season, the Golden Eagles raised an astounding $5,218 for local cancer services.
"We are very proud of our team's effort in this Flight for a Cure project," Head Coach Zach Shaver said. "The Flight for a Cure has 2 objectives. The first is to raise money that can be donated locally to help cancer patients in our community. The second is to raise awareness about breast cancer and how many people it effects. Our assistant coach, Jazzmine Espinoza worked tirelessly and led our team in the Flight for a Cure."
The Golden Eagles presented the check to representatives of the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Cancer Center at the men's basketball game against Salt Lake Community College on December 7th.
Over the past two seasons, the LCCC women's volleyball team has raised over $8,000 dollars for local cancer patient services after donating $3,231.15. There was no information available on how much the Casper College fundraiser brought in over the past two seasons.
