Saige Hostetter commits to LCCC volleyball for Fall 2024

CHEYENNE, WY – The Laramie County Community College volleyball team added a second setter to their Fall 2024 signing class with the addition of Saige Hostetter from Centauri High School in Colorado.

“Our team is proud that Saige chose to become a Golden Eagle,” Head Coach Zach Shaver said. “She is a great setter who has a lot of potential and will work hard to make our team better. She will also bring a defensive presence to the setter position. Our 2024 roster is coming together nicely and the setter position which is at the heart of the roster is showing a lot of promise.”

“I am excited to start the next chapter of my volleyball career at the next level and am proud to be a part of a successful program,” Hostetter said.

Saige brings a long list of accomplishments from her time playing in the San Luis Valley, first with the 2A Sargent Farmers before transferring to Centauri where she played her final two seasons, helping to lead the Falcons to the state tournament back-to-back seasons in 2022 and 2023.

Along with the team success, Hostetter also saw plenty of individual recognition. She was named to the 2021 2A All-State team with Sargent and was named to the All-Conference team in 2021 and in 2023 as a senior.

As a senior, Hostetter finished with 369 assists and only made 35 ball handling errors on over 1100 attempts. She finished her career with over 1000 assists between the two schools she competed for. She was also able to be a weapon on the attack, with 81 kills her senior season to go with 35 aces and on the defensive side had 19 total blocks and 144 digs.

“I chose LCCC for both volleyball and agricultural studies,” Hostetter said. “It is a nice campus with a small town feel and I appreciate the high standards expected of the volleyball team. I clicked with the girls and the coaches and am excited for what is to come!”

Hostetter was a model student athlete at Centauri, finished as a member of the National Honor Society and finished on the Principal Honor Roll. She also was a member of multiple groups, including FFA, 4-H, Leader In Me, and the Student Council.

Athletically, she was also a part of the Falcon’s basketball team earning a spot in the 2023 state basketball tournament and qualifying for the state track and field meet twice while at Sargent where she was a state placer on the 4x400 team in 2020 as a freshman.

Hostetter joins Addison Schreurs from Sparks, Nevada as the newest setters for the Golden Eagles, and brings the signing class for the fall to four, with Nina Jasiecka and Paulina Mielniczuk from Poland rounding out the newest Golden Eagles.

Athletes will arrive on campus the first week of August and the season opens later that month.
