Volleyball Falls 3-1 to Western Wyoming on Friday

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The Laramie County Community College volleyball team dropped a match on Friday in four sets to Western Wyoming Community College in Region IX North action.

The Mustangs (14-7, 3-0) who are receiving votes in the latest NJCAA rankings proved defeated the Golden Eagles 25-19, 13-25, 25-21, 25-20.

The first set was back-and-forth with the Golden Eagles holding on early. However, Western Wyoming then when on stretch to open up the margin and take the first set 25-19. The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early lead in the second set and lengthened that lead throughout the set to win 25-13.

The Golden Eagles battled in the third set despite trailing early. LCCC fought hard but WWCC would take the third set 25-21 and final set 25-20.

Kalme Moncavo (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) had a team-high 13 kills and a 0.3345 hitting percentage. Gwen Sheldon (Loveland, Colorado) had 35 assists and Kendzee Cloward (South Jordan, Utah) had a season-high 32 digs.

The Golden Eagles (3-19, 1-2 Region IX) return to the RAC Saturday afternoon as they welcome Central Wyoming College. Action begins at 3 p.m.
