Avery Nelson Named to NJCAA National Volleyball All-Tournament Team

Hutchinson – Laramie County Community College sophomore outside hitter Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) has been elected to the NJCAA National Volleyball Tournament All-Tournament Team.

Last week, the #15 seeded Golden Eagles placed ninth at the NJCAA National Championships held at Hutchinson Sports Arena in Hutchinson, Kansas. Laramie County upset Mineral Area College 3-1 in the ninth place match. The Golden Eagles finished the tournament 3-1 knocking off the #11 and #10 seeds as well. The only loss was to #2 College of Southern Idaho on the opening day. CSI ended up winning the Championship.

Nelson recorded 64 kills in four matches, including a season-high 25 against New Mexico Military Institute and .400 against them and .342 against Snow College.

LCCC's all-time leader in career kills increased her total to 1,034. She finished the year ranked second in the country in kills this season with 562.

Earlier, Nelson became a two-time All-Region IX performer. She was selected as the Region IX North Player of the Year this season.

Led by Head Coach Austin Albers, #18 ranked Laramie County finished the year with a 32-9 record.
