LCCC Volleyball Go 12-0 in Region IX North with Win Over Sheridan

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The Laramie County Community College volleyball team defeated Sheridan College, 4-1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-14, 26-24), in Region IX North action, Saturday afternoon, in Cheyenne, Wyo.

Laramie County improve to 24-7 overall and 12-0 in Region IX North play, while the Generals fell to 12-15 overall. With the win, LCCC captures back-to-back Region IX North Conference titles.

Sophomore Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) recorded 14 kills for the Golden Eagles, while Jessica Benedict (Wright, Wyoming) had 10 kills. Sophomore Kasandra Sturges (Parker, Colorado) coordinated the Golden Eagles' attack with 36 set assists. Additionally, Sturges added seven digs and a service ace.

Sophomore Kylie Martin (Gypsum, Colorado) had a team-best 17 digs, while sophomore Kyle Meltzer (Fort Collins, Colorado) posted 13 digs. Martin and Jazzy Espinoza (Cheyenne, Wyoming) had four blocks apiece for Laramie County.

The Golden Eagles will enter the Region IX tournament as the #1 seed from the North and play at 7:00 p.m. on Halloween at Storey Gym in the first round.
