LCCC Dominate With 3-0 Win Over Eastern Wyoming

TORRINGTON, Wyoming – The Laramie County Community College volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-14) win over Eastern Wyoming College on Tuesday night in their second Region IX North Match of the season.

Laramie County improved to 13-7 overall and 2-0 in conference, while Eastern Wyoming fell to 2-18.

LCCC was led by Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) with nine kills on an impressive .318 hitting percentage. Sophomore Gracyn Voggesser (Fort Collins, Colorado) and Jazzy Espinoza (Cheyenne, Wyoming) recorded six kills, while Payton Stack (Casper, Wyoming) added four. Nelson added to the offensive efforts, tallying three service aces. Setters Kasandra Sturges (Parker, Colorado) and Gwen Sheldon (Loveland, Colorado) recorded double-digit assists with 13 apiece. Stugers also had eight digs while Sheldon had seven.

Defensively, sophomore Kyle Meltzer (Fort Collins, Colorado) had a team-high 10 digs while freshman Alessia Venturelli (Modena, Italy) recorded eight. Espinoza and Stack recorded five blocks and Voggesser had three.

Laramie County hit .278 on the night compared to Eastern Wyoming at .012.

"This was a good showing on the road for us to keep things rolling in conference play," said Coach Albers. "We took good care of the ball, stayed aggressive and blocked well."

The Golden Eagles continue their road stand on Friday as they take on Central Wyoming College in Riverton at 7 p.m.
