Otero Sweeps Laramie County in La Junta

LA JUNTA, Colo. – The Laramie County Community College volleyball team has been on the road a lot early in the season and were on the road again on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles fell in straight-set scores of 20-25, 18-25 and 24-26 and were outhit the Rattlers .209 to .202.

Laramie County (6-6) dropped their second meeting with Otero (12-1) who has won six matches in a row. Tuesday, the Golden Eagles were led by Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) with 12 kills, Kasandra Sturges (Parker, Colorado) with 27 assists, Kyle Meltzer (Fort Collins, Colorado) and Kylie Martin (Gypsum, Colorado) each had two serving aces and Alessia Venturelli (Modena, Italy) had 14 digs.

"We struggled in multiple areas tonight and it showed up in the scoresheet," said head coach Austin Albers. "Right now our biggest hurdle is our own inconsistency and we're still trying to find the best combination of talent and how to put it all together on the floor. Once we do that I believe that we'll be a more competitive team."

Next up, the Golden Eagles are on the road again on Friday at the Pizza Hut Invitational to face Northeast Community College and Northeastern Junior College with first serve set for 12 and 4 p.m.
