#12 Volleyball Drops Match in Five Sets to #4 WNCC

SCOTTSBLUFF, NE – The #12 Laramie County Community College volleyball team nearly knocked off the #4 Western Nebraska Community College Cougars on the road as they fell in five sets 3-2. The Golden Eagles took the first two sets 25-18 and 25-23 but the Cougars rallied and took the next three 25-16, 25-23 and 15-12.

Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) and Kylie Martin (Gypsum, Colorado) shined bright on the evening with 12 kills. Martin (.435) was one of six with a hitting percentage of at least .300 along with Payton Stack (Casper, Wyoming) at .333 (11 kills). Cassidy Nelson (South Jordan, Utah) had nine kills. Kasandra Sturges (Parker, Colorado) fueled the attack with 37 assists. Kyle Meltzer (Fort Collins, Colorado) led in digs with 25 and two serving aces. Stack had the lone solo block but as a team the Golden Eagles had 21 assisted blocks.

Next Tuesday, the Navy and Gold will host Otero Junior College at 6 p.m. in the RAC for Spike Polio Night.
