POWELL – Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) led the Golden Eagles with 16 kills and four serving aces, while Kylie Martin (Gypsum, Colorado) finished with 13 kills and three blocks to lift #14 Laramie County Community College to a four-set victory over Northwest College on Friday in a battle of Region IX volleyball leaders.

The Golden Eagles won the first two sets 25-20 and 25-17, but the Trappers took the third, 25-22. LCCC earned its seventh straight victory by taking the fourth set 25-23.

Laramie County is now 27-6 overall and secured the regular season title with one game to spare in region play.

Carlee Morrison (Gypsum, Colorado) had 10 kills and three serving aces for the Golden Eagles, who got 20 digs from Macy Bourn (Frederick, Colorado). Jessica Benedict (Wright, Wyoming) and Payton Stack (Casper, Wyoming) had six kills for the Golden Eagles, who finished with 54 as a team.

Setter Kyra Brandt (Amsterdam, Netherlands) had 43 assists, 11 digs and three kills for LCCC.

Laramie County is on the road again on Saturday afternoon in a 3 p.m. matinee with Miles Community College.
