#14 Golden Eagles Fall to NC at Home in Five Sets

CHEYENNE, Wyoming – The 14th team in the country Laramie County Community College fell to Northwest College in five sets at home in a Friday evening Region IX North matchup.

The Trappers hit .301 on the evening, while Laramie County hit .316 including 54 kills in the match.

The Trappers won the first set 25-19, but LCCC bounced back to take set two 25-13. Laramie County battled back to take set three by the score of 25-15 but the Trappers took control of set four with a 25-18 win.

The fifth set was a thrilling back-and-forth affair, but Northwest emerged victorious with a 19-17 win in the final set for the win.

Freshman Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) led the offensive attack with 16 kills, hitting .314 in the match, while fellow freshman Kylie Martin (Gypsum, Colorado) had 15 kills. Sophomore Carlee Morrison finished with 12 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore Kyra Brandt (Amsterdam, Netherlands) had 44 assists and 10 digs. Payton Stack (Casper, Wyoming) had a block in the match. Morrison led with five service aces while Brandt recorded three.

The Golden Eagles will host Miles Community College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
