LCCC Volleyball Goes 3-1 in CSN Invite

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Laramie County Community College volleyball team went 3-1 in their matches at the College of Southern Nevada Invite. After falling to College of Southern Idaho in three sets (20-25, 14-25 and 18-25), the Golden bounced back and defeated Yavapai College (25-22, 20-25, 25-22, 25-12), Colorado Northwestern Community College (25-13, 25-11, 24-26, 25-11) and College of Southern Nevada (25-21, 25-14 and 25-18) in the two day competition.

LCCC (5-1) took on College of Southern Idaho on Friday in the first match and Yavapai College in the second match.

Kyra Brandt led the Golden Eagles with 11 assists on the night. Avery Nelson led in kills with eight in the match. Jessica Benedict had seven kills and Kylie Martin had four. Renae Davis had seven assists. Macy Bourn led the group in digs with six.

Into the second match of the evening against Yavapai College, the Golden Eagles started off to a great run. They close out a tough match taking the win three sets to one. Brandt dished out a season high 24 assists, while Davis had 20. Nelson led the charge with 13 kills and teammate Carlee Morrison had 11 12 digs, 11 kills and three aces. Bourne had 22 digs, four aces and three assists. Martin added nine kills and Payton Stack had seven kills with two blocks.

Into the third match, LCCC took the first two matches and capped off the win in fourth set. Morrison had 15 kills, eight digs and two blocks. Nelson chipped in with nine kills and two blocks. Stack had eight kills and eight blocks. Sara Gabriel added seven kills and two blocks. Bourn led with 12 digs. Brandt had a team high 22 assists.

In the final match of the Invite LCCC swept the host school College of Southern Nevada in straight sets. Brandt finished with a double-double with 13 assists and 10 digs to go along with two aces. Brown added 13 digs. Morrison, Nelson and Stack each had seven kills.

LCCC is back in action this weekend as they take part in the Crystal INNvitational in Salt Lake City. They will play #8 College of Southern Idaho, Otero Junior College, #1 Miami Dade College and #5 Salt Lake Community College.
