Women's soccer concludes trip to New York with 3-0 shutout of Harford

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Laramie County Community College women's soccer team finished off their weekend in New York with a neutral site victory over Harford Community College, taking down the owls 3-0 to cap off an undefeated weekend.

It took some time to get the LCCC offense going but they fired up first and with eight shots in the opening frame, they used a one-on-one set up by an Aubrey Yantis pass to Brooklyn Berry to break the scoring open in the 36th minute.

The match went to the half from there and in between, the conversation for the Golden Eagles brought out a new aggression in the second half.

LCCC managed to take 15 shots in the second half alone and broke through for a second time in the 60th minute when Giselle Heck finished her first goal of the year for the Golden Eagles on a shot from 30 yards out to double the score.

A third goal was added to the tally when Danielle O'Leary finished her third of the season and of the week to extend the lead to 3-0 in the 73rd minute after a pass from Ekena Little gave her a one-on-one with the keeper.

In net, LCCC wasn't challenged much. They only saw three saves in the match, with two going to Rebecca Sargent but another being picked up by Jenna Feldmann who came into the game in relief in the 83rd minute for her first career minutes in goal at the collegiate level.

LCCC did pick up a pair of yellow cards in the win, including a third in three games from Celeste Jimenez-Montero.

The Owls were saved by their keeper a lot in the match, making 13 saves on 16 shots on goal, with over half of the LCCC shots finding the frame.

Up next for the Golden Eagles is the opening of Region IX action when they travel to Rock Springs this weekend for action against Western Wyoming Community College.

LCCC won last year's meeting in the postseason after playing to a 0-0 draw in the regular season. The Golden Eagles are 5-1-1 over the Mustangs since the 2020 season, and their only loss came to Western Wyoming in 2022 in Rock Springs.

Saturday's match has been scheduled for 11:00 am and will be played at the Green River High School stadium due to scheduling conflicts at Rock Springs High School. Streaming information and more on the Golden Eagles schedule can be found at www.golccc.com.
