Brown, Cornaby help Eagles snap skid

CHEYENNE, WY - The No. 10 ranked Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles (6-2-1) snapped a two-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over Western Wyoming (3-4-1) on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles and Mustangs each created chances in the first half but were stymied by both goalkeepers. London Ewing (Alpine, Utah) stopped all three shots on target by Western Wyoming in the first half to keep the game scoreless heading into the break.

Jenaya Brown (Edmonton, Alberta) opened the scoring in the 62nd minute, taking a pass from Ainsley Basich (Cheyenne, Wyo.) and dribbling into the box, beating the keeper with a low shot to the back post. The goal was Brown's fifth of the season, giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Freshman Hanah Cornaby (Springville, Utah) put the game away in the 81st minute, poking a freekick from Sam Murray (Clinton, Utah) past the keeper to double the Golden Eagles' advantage to 2-0.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, September 24th, hosting Otero at 3:30 pm.
