CHEYENNE, WY - The Golden Eagles (1-0) scored the final four goals of the match in a 5-1 win over Iowa Lakes (0-1) in the season opener on Thursday afternoon.

Ainsley Basich (Cheyenne, Wyo.) and Jenaya Brown (Edmonton, Alberta) linked up in the 20th minute to give the Golden Eagles the lead as Brown was able to find Basich who knocked home a shot for 18 yards out. 

Iowa Lakes answered just six minutes later to tie the game at one. 

Basich and Brown once again teamed up to give the Golden Eagles the lead back. In the 44th minute, Brown connected on a shot from 20 yards out on a feed from Basich, putting the Golden Eagles up 2-1 before halftime. 

The Golden Eagles scored three goals in the second half as Andi Hunsicker (Douglas, Wyo.) scored her first goal of the season in the 62nd minute, three minutes before Emily Reddish (South Jordan, Utah) scored her first goal as a Golden Eagle. Peyton Oleson (Loveland, Colo.) finished the game off with a goal in the 73rd minute.

The Golden Eagles host Utah State-Eastern at 11:00 am on Saturday.
