Amerena's Hat Trick Highlights Win Over Cougars

CHEYENNE, WY - Lauren Amerena (West Sussex, England) scored three goals, helping the Golden Eagles (10-0) beat Western Nebraska 5-1 on Wednesday afternoon. 

It didn't take long for the Golden Eagles to open their account on Wednesday afternoon as Amerena scored the first goal of the game in the 8th minute, beating the keeper on a feed from Erika Scivally (Lehi, Utah) to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Amerena added her second of the game just four minutes later, once again scoring on a pass from Scivally to extend the advantage to 2-0. 

The sophomore completed the hat trick in the 18th minute, scoring on a shot from 18 yards out on a pass from Beyonce Robinson (Brampton, Ontario) to push the lead to 3-0.

Western Nebraska scored the final goal of the half to cut into the Golden Eagles lead at 3-1.

Jayla Wulff (Laramie, Wyo.) scored her second goal of the season, hitting a shot from inside the box on an assist from Jaslyn Tapia (Hooper, Utah). Robinson then made it 5-1 a few seconds later, beating the keeper on a one-on-one with an assist from Jenya Brown (Edmonton, Alberta). 

Caely Pickard (Laramie, Wyo.) made her first career start and made three saves in the win. 

The Golden Eagles head to Casper on Saturday.
