CHEYENNE, WY - The LCCC Golden Eagles (1-0) opened the season with a 3-1 win over Western Wyoming (0-1) on Thursday afternoon.

Two of the three goals scored came from freshmen as Ainsley Basich (Cheyenne, Wyo.) opened the scoring with a goal in the 20th minute, knocking in a cross from eight yards out to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead. Beyonce Robinson (Brampton, Ontario) provided the cross, tallying her first assist of the season. 

Basich came off the bench for the Golden Eagles and recorded two shots, scoring her first career goal in the win. 

LCCC doubled its' lead in the second half thanks to a Lauren Amerena (West Sussex, England) strike from 23 yards out on a feed from Brown, extending the lead to 2-0 in the 47th minute. 

Western Wyoming scored their only goal in the 59th minute but the Golden Eagles would answer in the 78th thanks to Jenaya Brown (Edmonton, Alberta) who connected on a free kick from 25 yards out to push the lead back to two goals at 3-1. 

Brown finished the game with two shots on goal and an assist to go along with her first career goal. 

The Golden Eagles are back in action on Saturday, hosting Hill College at 11:00 am.
