CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Two sophomores help bolster their team as the #4 Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles defeated Otero JC 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Thalita Portela Faria (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Faith Meredith (Cheyenne, Wyoming) scored goals to help the Golden Eagles advance to the Region IX Semi-final. Portela Faria scored in the 11th minute on free kick and now has four goals on the year. Meredith scored in the 65th minute on a pass from Taylor Meyrick (Cheyenne, Wyoming). Meredith now has 14 goals on the season.
The Golden Eagles defense did not allow OJC to have a shot on goal and the Rattlers had only shots total for the game.
Larissa Sitzler (Hamburg, Germany) recorded her third shutout of the season.
#1 seed The Golden Eagles improve to 14-0-1 overall and will play #4 seed Sheridan College on Saturday. The Generals picked up a win in a shootout over Trinidad State Junior College. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
