Amerena Hat Trick Gives Golden Eagles 6-1 Victory

Cheyenne – The #4 Laramie County Community College women's soccer team came out with another win against Sheridan College, with three goals from Lauren Amerena (West Sussex, England). The Golden Eagles came away with a 6-1 win. The team is now 4-0-1 on the season.

The Golden Eagles started hot with a quick attack with five goals in the opening 18 minutes. Avery Potter (Casper, Wyoming) found Amerena in the 5th minute for the first goal. Amerena would get her second in the 8th minute on a pass from Thalita Portela-Faria (Sao Paulo, Brazil). LCCC would add their third goal seconds later as Taylor Meyrick (Cheyenne, Wyoming) played Beyonce Robinson (Ontario, Canada) in on a 1v1 for the goal. Amerena would record the assist in the 11th minute when her cross found the head of Darby Whiteley (Bungendore, Australia) for the fourth goal. Robinson scored the fifth in the 18th minute on another assist from Meyrick. Portela-Faria, Amerena, Whiteley and Robinson lead the team with three shots. Sheridan would get a goal late in the first half from Casey Wassum in the 43rd minute. Laramie County would be in control for the entire first half and would enter the halftime break ahead 5-1.

The Golden Eagles continued to perform strong in the second half and put up seven shots in the half. The team continued to press and got their sixth goal from Amerena to complete the hat trick in the 79th minute on a pass from Robinson. Laramie County outshot the Generals 7-4 in the second half and 16-10 for the game.

The Golden Eagles start Region IX play with a win. LCCC is at home on Saturday to face Gillette College in Region IX action at 4 p.m.
