Several Golden Eagles Claim All-Region Awards

CHEYENNE, Wyoming – The LCCC women's soccer team earned six All-Region IX selections as the league released its postseason honors last Thursday.

Sophomore Katie Loken (Cheyenne, Wyoming) was tabbed as a First-Team All-Region honoree for the second time in her career and was also named the Region IX Player of the Year. Annie Rolf (West Sussex, England), Taylor Stoeger (Green River, Wyoming) and Shaney McCabe (Dundee, Scotland) were named to the 2018 Region IX First-Team. Ellie Bowman (Essex, England) earned Second-Team and Faith Meredith (Cheyenne, Wyoming) earned Honorable Mention.

Loken, a dual threat on the defensive backline and midfield for the Golden Eagles played and started all 17 matches. The sophomore was a part of the defense that earned 10 shutouts on the season and limited the Region IX opposition to just three goals in 11 games. On the offensive side of the field, Loken scored two goals and collected two assists on the year. In her career, she now owns seven goals and four assists.

Rolf and Stoeger have been a key factor in Laramie County's run this season. Stoeger has played and started in all 17 matches. The Golden Eagles midfielder went on to score nine goals and tallied 10 assists for a total of 28 points. Rolf played in 16 matches and started in 14 of those matches. She went on to score six goals and tallied five assists for a total of 13 points.

In her first season in an LCCC uniform, McCabe transitioned from the backline to up front and scored four goals to help the Golden Eagles offense to go along with three assists for a total of 11 points.

Bowman started in all 17 matches for the Golden Eagles and recorded 10 shutouts. She also made 55 saves in the regular season.

Meredith scored five goals and dished out three assists for the Golden Eagles.
