Golden Eagles Advance in 3-0 Win Over Sheridan

DENVER, Colorado – With goals by Annie Rolf (West Sussex, England) and Noemi Amaro (Gering, Nebraska) in the first half and Taylor Stoeger (Green River, Wyoming) in the second half for the Laramie County Community College women's soccer team as the Golden Eagles defeated Sheridan College, 3-0, on Friday afternoon.

With the win, Laramie County moves onto the Region IX Championship game on Saturday afternoon against Western Wyoming Community College.

The goal marked the sixth for Rolf this season and Amaro recorded her fifth. Stoeger added to team-leading nine goals on the year.

In the contest, The Golden Eagles offense tallied 15 shots with 13 coming on frame. Individually, the sophomore Stoeger led the charge for LCCC as she posted four shots in the match. Rolf continued to create chances in the offensive third and recorded three shots, while three other Golden Eagles pitched in two shots.

In the net for Laramie County was sophomore Ellie Bowman (Sussex, England) for her 16th start of the season. For the Golden Eagles, Bowman made four saves in goal. The sophomore keeper posted her 10th shutout of the season.

A quick start was key for the Golden Eagles as they got their first goal in the 6th minute as Stoeger played Rolf through in for goal. Amaro made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute as she finished a cross from Faith Meredith (Cheyenne, Wyoming). The Golden Eagles led 2-0 at the half.

LCCC added their third goal in the 80th minute when Darby Whiteley (Bungendor NSW, Australia) played Stoeger through the defense for the goal.

The Golden Eagles will play Western Wyoming Community College tomorrow in the Region IX Championship game. Match is scheduled for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
