Lylah Spring earns Region IX Player of the Week honors

CHEYENNE, WY - It was a short week for Laramie County Community College women's basketball, but sophomore post Lylah Spring took full advantage of the Golden Eagles only game at Air Force Prep to earn the Region IX Player of the Week award for the first time this season.

The Australian native put on a record performance, with career high's in points (30), blocks (8), and rebounds (20). The numbers weren't just career highs, but also set and tied marks for the Golden Eagles women's basketball program.

Her 20 rebounds tied the school mark which was set in 2018 by Haylie Anderson and the eight blocks is a new high for the team, breaking the record of six which Spring had tied earlier this season against Snow College. The record had originally been set by Abby Garreaud in 2020 against Casper College.

Spring also tied the record for most field goals in a game with 13, which had been set last season by Michala Bork in the first game of the year against Trinidad State College.

Her 30 points also matched Borks number from that game for second most in school history. The record for points in a game is 32, set by Gabby O'Conner in 2018, also against Trinidad State College.

Spring's single game accomplishments can be added to her records in single season rebounding, field goal percentage, and blocks, and the sophomore already holds the career mark for blocks. She is only 86 rebounds away from breaking the career mark in that catagory, and she is five points away from moving into the top five in career points scored.
