Women’s Basketball Defeat Trinidad State in Golden Eagle Holiday Classic, 98-74

CHEYENNE, WY – Freshman post Abby Garreaud (Magna, Utah) recorded a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, as Laramie County Community College women's basketball defeated Trinidad State Junior College, 98-74, on Saturday afternoon in the final game of the Golden Eagle Holiday Classic.

Playing at the RAC, the Golden Eagles (9-5) jumped out early to a 23-17 lead at the end of the first quarter and 46-30 at halftime. LCCC would surge again in the third quarter and outscore the Lady Trojans 27-17 in the third to gain separation in the contest.

Laramie County will head to the holiday break before returning to action on Thursday, January 2nd at 6 p.m. against Phoenix College.

Garreaud posted double-figure rebounds for the fourth time this season and notched her third collegiate double-double with her 15 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Kaysen Hobbs (Fort Collins, Colorado) scored 17 points with three rebounds.

Freshman Sam Hester (Saratoga Springs, Utah) contributed in multiple areas with 14 points, four assists, three steals and two rebounds. Sophomore Ja'Kia Wells (Mesquite, Texas) chipped in 11 points, five rebounds and four steals. Haylie Anderson (Clearfield, Utah) added 11 points. Anna Terron (Tarragona, Spain) distributed a team-high five assists with eight points.

For Trinidad State, Maria Llorente posted 17 points and eight assists, Samantha Quigley notched 17 points and five rebounds, Jazmyne Jenkins tallied 14 points and eight rebounds and Mariah Garcia compiled 12 points.

For the game, TSJC shot 43.4 percent from the field (23-of-53) and 46.7 percent from 3-point distance (7-of-15) while Laramie County shot 51.5 percent from the floor (35-of-68) and 36.8 percent from 3-point distance (7-of-19).
