Cheyenne, Wyo. - Laramie County Community College women's basketball head coach Brian Ortmeier announced his recruiting class for the 2019-20 season. Nine new additions to the Golden Eagles from Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and Spain.
Abby Garreaud – 6-1 Center/Power Forward (Cyprus High School, Magna, Utah)
Garreaud was a member of the 2019 Utah 6A All-State Girls Basketball Third Team. She averaged 14.7 points per game and 11.5 rebounds per game during the 18-19 season, and had a season high of 33 points against Park City High School.
Ximena Gutierrez – 5-8 Guard (Glenwood Springs High School, Glenwood Springs, Colorado)
Gutierrez was named the 4A WSL Player of the Year for the 18-19 season. She was also named Honorable Mention 4A All-State in Colorado. Last season, she averaged 9.3 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, 4 steals per game, and 3.7 assists per game. Gutierrez was also a dual-sport athlete in high school as a member of the school's rugby team.
Claudia Hernández – 5-7 Guard (INS Joan Miró Cornellà, Barcelona, Spain)
Hernández was the leading scorer at 16.2 points per game for Barca CBS in the 3rd Spanish Division. She also shot over 80% from the FT line during the 18-19 season.
Sam Hester – 5-9 Guard (Westlake High School, Saratoga Springs, Utah)
Hester was a member of the 2019 Utah 6A All-State Girls Basketball First Team. She averaged 13 points per game, 3.3 rebounds per game, 2.1 assists per game and 3 steals per game for the 18-19 season. Sam also shot 37-106 from the 3-pt line last year (37%) and snagged 65 steals.
Kaysen Hobbs – 5-10 Guard/Forward (Fossil Ridge High School, Fort Collins, Colorado)
Hobbs averaged 5.8 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game for the 18-19 season while leading her team to the 5A Colorado State Semifinals. She was also named Front Range League 2nd Team All-Conference, played in the Front Range League Girls All-Star Game, and collected 36 charges taken over the past two seasons.
Sariah Jones – 5-10 Guard/Forward (Roy High School, Roy, Utah)
Jones averaged 8.9 points per game, 2.6 rebounds per game and 1.6 per game during her senior season. She will be returning to the court this year after completing mission work in West Virginia.
Karly Mathern – 5-8 Guard (Windsor High School, Windsor, Colorado)
Mathern averaged 13.9 points per game, 1.3 assists per game, 5.1 rebounds per game, and 2.4 steals for the 18-19 season. She also played in the Border Battle All-Star Classic and made the First Team Tri Valley League All Conference Team. During the 18-19 season, she also went 27-64 from the 3-pt line (42%) and had 59 steals.
Anna Terrón – 5-7 Guard (Institut Antoni de Martí i Franqués, Tarragona, Spain)
Terrón averaged 13.6 points per game for CB Tarragona in the Junior (U18) level competition for the 18-19 season.
Maizee Thoren – 5'6 Guard (Farson-Eden High School, Farson, Wyoming)
Thoren made the 18-19 1A Wyoming All-State Team while averaging 14.7 points per game, 3.8 assists per game, 9.1 rebounds per game, and 4 steals per game.
