LCCC Comes Up Short

Cheyenne, Wyoming – The Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles women's basketball team came up short in a close game that resulted in a loss to Gillette College by the score of 85-73.

Laramie County fought back to level things up at the end of the 3rd quarter but let the game slip away in the fourth quarter.

Ja'Kia Wells (Mesquite, Texas) led the scoring for the Golden Eagles with 23 points. Haylie Anderson (Clearfield, Utah) had 18 points and Gabi O'Connor (Colorado Springs, Colorado) pitched in with 16 points and five assists. Karli O'Brien (Rapid City, South Dakota) had eight rebounds on the night.

LCCC shot 23-of-62 from the field for 37.1 percent, 12-of-24 from the three-point line for 50 percent and 15-of-21 from the free throw line for 71. 4 percent. GC shot 36-of-62 from the field for 58.1 percent, 2-of-5 from the three-point line for 40 percent and 11-of-19 from the free throw line for 57.9 percent.

The Golden Eagles will look to get back on track as they get ready to travel to Eastern Wyoming College on Wednesday February 20th. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Torrington, WY.
