LCCC Women’s Basketball Powers to Win Over NPCC, 77-69

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – Laramie County Community College got double-figure contributions from Courtney Walker (Las Vegas, Nevada), Sarah Kruthaupt (Las Vegas, Nevada), Madison Hamm (Fort Collins, Colorado) and Katelyn Smith (Loveland, Colorado) as they led the LCCC women's basketball team in its 77-69 win over North Platte Community College on Friday.

The Golden Eagles now rise to 7-5 overall while the Knights (1-6) losing streak extends to three.

Walker led the LCCC scoring effort with a career-high 23 points. Kruthaupt and Hamm each put up 12 points while Smith added 11. Hamm also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and Karli O'Brien (Rapid City, South Dakota) dished out four assists.

NPCC had four players in double-figures with Janelle Acevedo (16), Hannah Johnson (13), Allison Tichy (13) and Nahatabaa Nacona (12). Peighton Porter brought down a game-high 13 rebounds while Nacona pitched in for three assists.

The Golden Eagles had a slow start to the game and the Knights picked up the pace in the quarter giving them a 22-14 lead after the first.

LCCC stepped up early in the second quarter, landing a couple three-pointers and a layup to send the Golden Eagles on a run. LCCC maintained that pace led at the half, 37-36.

LCCC kept the momentum in the second half in route to the victory.
