CHEYENNE, WY – The Laramie County Community College rodeo team is gearing up for the final rodeo of the year in Laramie at the Laramie River Rendezvous.
Both the Friday and Saturday performances will have strong showings from the Golden Eagles including several Golden Eagles in the hunt for the CNFR, and all of them needing to qualify back for the short go on Sunday morning at 11 AM.
Friday will feature bareback riding for the Golden Eagles where Tate Miller is sitting in fourth place only 15 points behind Cooper Filipek from Gillette College for the final spot. Paul Smith of Central Wyoming and Cinch Kiger of Chadron are also in the hunt for the final spot at the CNFR in June making for what should be a fun pair of rides for all involved.
Saturday features Gage Davis in steer wrestling and Shelby Derner along with former Golden Eagle Thayne Kimbrough in team roping as the athletes to watch from LCCC. All three are still mathematically alive in the standings to go to the CNFR with Davis in fourth in steers and Derner in 12th in team roping just 85 points out of third.
Other Golden Eagles to watch include Cory Bomhoff in tiedown roping, who will be competing in the Saturday slack rounds, and team ropers all through out the standings where the Golden Eagles have five team in the hunt for the third spot.
The full list Golden Eagles in the Friday and Saturday performances can be found below. Tickets for the rodeo are on sale now and can be purchased at the door. Performances are scheduled for 6:30 pm on both Friday and Saturday nights. Slack times begin at noon on Friday and at 10 AM on Saturday morning.
