LCCC’s Skarohlid Pick Up Third Place Finish at Chadron Rodeo

Chadron, NE – Laramie County Community College Rodeo Team competed at the Chadron State University Rodeo in Chadron, Nebraska on Sept. 13-15.

Tie Down roper, Justin Skarohlid (Cheyenne, Wyoming) placed seventh in the long round with a time of 10.0 seconds. He posted the third fastest time in the short round with a time of 10.5 seconds. His time of 20.5 on two head placed him third in the event.

In the bareback event Drake Amundson came in sixth with a long round score of 70 points and then scored 67 points in the short round for an average of 137. In the saddle bronc riding event Ian McGivney (Kaycee, Wyoming) had the best long round score with 77 points but was unable to score in the short round.

The steer wrestling event had two Golden Eagles place as Bernard Girard (Alliance, Nebraska) and Cauy Pokorny (Stapleton, Nebraska) finished fifth and sixth. Girard had a long round time of 6.4 seconds and a time of 4.5 second in the short round. Porkorny had a long round time of 6.6 seconds and a time of 4.9 seconds in the short round.

Team ropers, Shayla Howell (UW) and Cord Roberts (Rapid City, South Dakota) posted the fastest time of the rodeo in the long round with 6.8 seconds. They posted a time of 18.4 in the short round. Their time of 25.2 on two head were just a few seconds off from a top-3 finish.

On the women's side, Ryleigh Hauer (Eaton, Colorado) gathered 10th in the barrels with a long round time of 17.88 and short round time of 23.52.

The LCCC Men's Team finished fifth and the Women's Team finished ninth at the Chadron Rodeo.

The teams are back on the road this weekend at the Sheridan College Rodeo in Sheridan, Wyoming.
