Houston Brown Wins Saddle Bronc Event

CHEYENNE – Laramie County Community College saddle bronc rider Houston Brown won the Saddle Bronc event at the Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo this weekend in Cheyenne at LCCC. Brown had a long-go score of 70 and scored an 80 on his ride on Championship Sunday to win the event. The win moves him into fourth in the Central Rocky Mountain Region Standings. Brown also placed in the Team Roping as teamed with Landon Brown of Casper College for a seventh place finished.

Caydee Johnson led the women's side as she finished second in the Breakaway Roping with a time of 5.8 on two runs. She now moves into third in the Central Rocky Mountain Region standings.

Rance Johnson had a long-go time of 9.2 in the Tie Down Roping and had him sitting second after Saturday. Johnson would have a time of 12.1 on Sunday and took fourth in the event. Moves him to seventh in the region standings. Bernard Girard came in ninth in the tie down roping with an average of 24.6 on two runs. Austin Hulburt still sits in first in the CRMR standing with 390 points for LCCC.

Hulburt had a strong performance in the Steer Wresting as he finished fourth with a time of 16.9 on two runs. Ryan Shuckburgh was right behind him in fifth with a time of 19.2 on two runs. Shuckburgh is sixth in the CRMR standings.  

Megan Turek came in ninth in the Goat Tying with a time of 16.0 flat on two runs.

On Friday evening Laramie County Community College honored our veterans and active military with Military Appreciation Day. Many volunteers helped with the presentation of a giant American flag to kick things off. LCCC gave away 400 mini American flags to those in attendance.
