Cheyenne – The Laramie County Community College men's soccer team gave a good showing Saturday against an undefeated with a 6-0 victory in Region IX play.
The Golden Eagles held a 30-2 advantage in shots with a handful of players recording multiple attempts. The Golden Eagles put 14 shots on goal in the match.
The Golden Eagles (4-3, 2-0) got on the board in the 11th minute when Noe Ortiz-Pena (Aurora, Colorado) finished a shot on a pass by Carlos Vargas (Heber City, Utah). The Golden Eagles doubled their lead in the 35th minute when Jonathan Jimenez-Flores (Longmont, Colorado) found Matt Wren (Welwyn, England) for the goal. LCCC took a 2-0 lead into the half.
Ortiz-Pena would record his second goal in the 58th minute on a pass from Omar Castruita (Boulder, Colorado). Castruita would also record assists on the fourth and fifth goals of the match. Manny Tapia (Longmont, Colorado) scored in the 62nd minute and Cameron Broadhurst (Broomfield, Colorado) scored in the 63rd. Tapia would score the final goal in the 72nd minute off a penalty kick.
Goalkeeper Declan Domyan (Sandton, South Africa) finished with two saves in the victory.
Laramie County returns to action next Friday, traveling to Northwest College in Region IX action at 3:00 p.m. in Powell, Wyoming.
