COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA – Two goals in each half hurt the Golden Eagles on the campus of Iowa Western Community College Sunday for a non-conference battle of nationally-ranked teams. The No. 15-ranked Lakers of Iowa Lakes Community College defeated the No. 14-ranked Golden Eagles 4-0 in the contest.
Iowa Lakes (4-1) recorded 13 shots in the match while Laramie County (2-3) recorded 10. Mario Munoz (Longmont, Colorado) started in goal and had seven saves. Omar Castruita (Boulder, Colorado) and Carlos Vargas (Heber City, Utah) led the attack with two shot apiece.
The Golden Eagles will open Region IX play on Friday when they host Sheridan College at 1:30 p.m.
