TORRINGTON, WY - Arion Lewis (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Ghared Boyce (Brockton, Mass.) combined for 53 points, helping the Golden Eagles (11-11, 8-2) knock of Eastern Wyoming (14-8, 6-4) 90-74 on Monday night, securing the first seed in the North, and will host the Region IX Tournament.
The Golden Eagles used a 34-13 run to close out the game and erase a five-point deficit. Lewis led the second-half charge, scoring a game-high, and a new career-high 30 points, going 4-4 from the three-point line while dishing out five assists.
The Golden Eagles and the Lancer played an even first-half as Eastern Wyoming beat the buzzer to tie the game at 42 at the break. After a slow start to the second, the Golden Eagles scored 48 second-half points on their way to the win.
Boyce scored 23 points, going 3-6 from the three-point line in the win. Ashraf Tchadouwa (Toronto, Ontario) scored nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Nolan Causwell (Duluth, Ga.) scored eight points and collected six rebounds.
LCCC will host the 2020-21 Region IX Tournament starting April 8. The Golden Eagles will play the winner of the 4/5 matchup in the south. Game times to be announced.
