Oliver Scores 33 in Loss to Cougars

SCOTTSBLUFF, NE - Erik Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyo.) scored 23 of his game-high 33 points in the second half as the Golden Eagles (3-8) late rally came up short, falling to Western Nebraska (5-4) 83-79 on Monday night.

The Golden Eagles and the Cougars traded runs in the first half before Western Nebraska opened up a nine-point advantage at 38-29 at the break. 

LCCC opened the second half with an 18-8 run to take a 47-46 lead. After not scoring in the first half, Marko Maletic (London, Ontario) scored 16 points in the second half and connected on four threes to help the Golden Eagles erase the halftime deficit. 

Oliver led all scorers with 33, two points shy of tying his season-high of 35, and went 7-15 from the three-point line.

In a game that featured 11 lead changes and 11 ties, Western Nebraska regained control and held off the Golden Eagles, 83-79.

Arion Lewis (Philadelphia, Pa.) had 14 points and eight assists. Nolan Causwell (Duluth, Ga.) collected a game-high 11 rebounds. 

LCCC heads to Trinidad on Saturday to face the Trojans at 4:00 pm.
