
La Junta, CO - The LCCC Golden Eagles (1-3) outscored the Otero Rattlers (2-0) 50-42 in the second half before falling 91-89 in the second game of a two-game road swing in Colorado on Saturday afternoon.
Arion Lewis (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored a team-high 20 points for the Golden Eagles while dishing out seven assists. Lewis kept the Golden Eagles afloat in the first half, a half in which LCCC trailed by 14 points at one time before closing the gap to ten at 49-39 at the break.
After a quiet first half, Ghared Boyce (Brockton, Mass.) scored 14 points of his 16 total points in the second including connecting on three, three-pointers. Boyce was joined by Xavier McCord (Cheyenne, Wyo.) who also has a big second half, scoring all 16 of his points in the frame.
The Golden Eagles came all the way back to take a five-point lead at 73-68 midway through the second half.
Erik Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyo.) finished the game with 16 points, hitting three, threes while Ashraf Tchedouwa (Toronto, Ontario) scored 14 points while grabbing five rebounds.
Otero snatched the lead back late and LCCC missed a final shot at the buzzer, falling to the Rattlers 91-89.
The Golden Eagles return home on Tuesday as they host Western Nebraska at 7:30 pm at the RAC.
