Men’s Basketball Edged by Central Wyoming

RIVERTON, WY - The Laramie County Community College men's basketball suffered their second Region IX North loss on Wednesday night with a 80-69 loss at Central Wyoming College. 

The Golden Eagles were flagged with 24 fouls, allowing the Rustlers to go 17-of-25 at the free throw line. LCCC was 18-of-26 at the line. 

The Golden Eagles were up in the first half but were held to just 31 points in the second half and couldn't complete the comeback after CWC took the lead. 

Freshman Erik Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming) led all scorers with 25 points. 

LCCC drops to 3-14 overall and 1-2 in Region IX North play. CWC improves to 11-7 overall and 1-2 in Region IX North. 

Laramie County took a 38-36 lead into halftime, closing the half on a good run. The Golden Eagles shot 42.3 percent and committed 13 turnovers. Central Wyoming shot 48.3 percent from the field. 

CWC owned a 39-33 rebounding advantage, including a 9-7 edge on the offensive end. 

Sophomore Mateo Zovko (Mostar, Bosnia) added 15 points. Freshman Dante Sofia (Liverpool, England) added eight points. Caleb Davis (Grand Junction, Colorado) pulled down nine rebounds. Davis and Cortney Dean (Denver, Colorado) finished with six points. Dean and Yusef Washington Jr. (Denver, Colorado) each had three assists. 

LCCC travel to Sheridan College on Saturday.
