Golden Eagles Comeback Against McCook for Win

CHEYENNE, Wyoming – After being off for a week and half, the Golden Eagles stormed back on their home court against McCook Community College. The Golden Eagles dialed in from the floor converting 23-of-51 field goals for a 45.1 percentage from the floor to defeat the Indians 75-66. The Golden Eagles move to 2-7 overall.

To begin the first half, It was McCook who got going early on as they jumped to 13-6 lead in the first six minutes. With just over half of the period remaining, Mateo Zovko (Mostar, Bosnia) nailed jumper to give LCCC their first lead at 17-16. The half would be tight the rest of the way but the Indians would head to the locker room with a 36-31 lead. Out of the half, the Indians broke the lead too as many as 15. LCCC would then go on a 21-3 run to take a five-point lead. From there, the Golden Eagles would not surrender the lead.

The Golden Eagles shot 27.3 percent from beyond the arc, hitting 6-of-22. At the line, the Golden Eagles were 23-of-29 (79.3%). The Golden Eagles pulled down 34 total rebounds, including six offensive rebounds. Individually, Chris Grace (Needville, Texas) led all scorers with 24 points. Others in double digits for the Golden Eagles included Erik Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming) with 21 points, Zovko with 12 and Damien Perry (North Dartmouth, Massachusetts). Oliver and Cortney Dean (Denver, Colorado) collected seven rebounds apiece. Dean and Grace dished out three assists. Grace also collected four steals. Ashraf Tchadouwa (Toronto, Canada) recorded four blocks.

Up next, the Golden Eagles will host North Platte Community College on Saturday, December 7 at 4 p.m. in the RAC.
