Men’s Basketball Drops Opener to NJC

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Northeastern Junior College scored 60 first half points to give them a 106-72 victory over the Laramie County Community College men's basketball team in the season opener on Friday evening at the RAC Gymnasium.

LCCC (0-1) fields a young squad only returning three sophomores.

Northeastern JC was led by Dalton Knecht who recorded 17 points while shooting 5-for-8 from the floor. Four other Plainsmen scored in double figures as Moz Doria and Jared Adams had 15 points, Mohamed Diallo had 12 and Terae Johnson had 11.

Kyle Cabs (Denver, Colorado) posted 18 points in the loss for the Golden Eagles. Freshman Erik Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming) provided 14 points, while classmate Ghared Boyce (Everett, Massachusetts) added 11 points.

Laramie County is back in action Saturday as they host Utah State University – Eastern at 3 p.m. in the RAC.
