CHEYENNE, WY. – After being knotted up at the end of regulation, 62-62, the Laramie County Community College men's basketball team was outscored seven (13-6) in the overtime period against North Platte Community College. The Knights took a 75-68 win and handed the Golden Eagles their third loss of the season.
Mateo Zovko (Mostar, Bosnia) led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 13 points. The small forward was joined in double-figures by Tyrese Potoma (Regina, Canada) with 12 points and Daequan Spragion (Brooklyn, New York) had 11. David Appelgren (Stockholm, Sweden) brought down a team-high 10 rebounds was just shy of a double with eight points.
In the team head-to-head, North Platte converted on 42.2 percent of its shot attempts (27-of-64) while Laramie County converted on 42.4 percent of its looks (25-for-59). The Knights won the rebounding battle by nine (42-33). LCCC committed one more turnover than NPCC (23-22).
North Platte had the lead early on as they lead by nine midway through the first half. LCCC then used a run to take a 39-35 lead at the half. The Golden Eagles pushed the lead to 10 early in the second half.
Next up, LCCC will compete on Saturday against McCook Community College with the tip set for 4 p.m.
