LCCC Men’s Basketball Fall to Northwest Kansas Tech, 77-65

GOODLAND – The Laramie County Community College men's basketball team dropped a road game on Monday, falling to Northwest Kansas Technical College, 77-65.

The Golden Eagles are now 8-6 overall while the Mavericks improve to 11-4.

Sophomore Landon Taliaferro (Boulder, Colorado) put up a game-high 28 points while Zaire Mateen (Queens, New York) added 17 points. Solomon Iluyomade (London, England) pulled down a team-high five rebounds.

Northwest Kansas Tech was led by four players with double-figure efforts from Bentiu Panoam (14 points), Chris Freeman (14 points), William Lybaek (12 points) and Miles Gibson (12 points). Amanze Njoku-Ibe contributed 11 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles shot 37.7 from the field, 34.6 percent from the 3-point line and shot 57.1 percent from the line. The Golden Eagles were outrebounded 51-32 by the Mavericks.

Northwest Kansas gained an advantage late in the first half after the Golden Eagles went through a scoring drought. LCCC trailed 31-26 at the break.

LCCC and NWKTC battled back-and-forth in the early in the second half as the Golden Eagles got back within three with 9:03 remaining to play. Northwest Kansas Tech was able to pull away late in the second half.
