LCCC Men’s Basketball Defeats NPCC 74-58 in Region IX South Opener

NORTH PLATTE – Elijah Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming) scored a team-high 21 points as Laramie County Community College defeated North Platte Community College, 74-58, on Friday in a Region IX South matchup.

The Golden Eagles, playing their 10th game of the season, are now 7-3 overall and 1-0 in Region IX South. They've also won five straight now. The Knights are 1-5 following the loss.

Zaire Mateen (Queens, New York) finished with 20 points, nine rebounds and two assists for the Golden Eagles, who also got 16 points from Landon Taliaferro (Boulder, Colorado). Kyle Wright (West Orange, New Jersey) recorded a double-double with 13 points and a team-high 14 rebounds.

Trajan Harris led NPCC with 15 points and three steals, while Aaron Ridley and Jakub Karwowski each scored 10 points.

The Golden Eagles, who led 38-26 at halftime, opened the second half with some good looks at the basket. NPCC cut the lead but were never able to pull even.

Laramie County used a run to put the game way.

LCCC plays next at McCook Community College on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. The Golden Eagles next home game is Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. against Central Wyoming College.
