Volleyball Drops Match With Otero JC

CHEYENNE, WY – The Laramie County Community College Volleyball team (1-13) dropped a home match at the RAC Tuesday evening. The Golden Eagles were defeated by Otero Junior College (11-5) in four sets (25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 27-25).

Cassidy Nelson (South Jordan, Utah) led the way with 20 kills. She was followed by Kyla Childers (Parker, Colorado) with 15 kills. Kalme Moncavo (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) had six kills and Gwen Sheldon (Loveland, Colorado) led in assists with 34 of her own.  

The first set went back-and-forth with the Rattlers taking a lead late and would rattle off a run to take the opening set.

In the second set saw the Golden Eagles lead most of the way early on, but a run by Otero pulled them ahead and they would go on to win it by a score of 25-17.  

The Golden Eagles took a lead early on in the third set, and maintained that slight edge for the entirety of the frame. The Rattlers slithered their way back to a two-point deficit, but were unable to get over the hump.

The fourth set was tight the entire way with both teams exchanging leads. The Rattlers would take the fourth set 27-25.

Sophomore Cameron Callahan (Parker, Colorado) added five kills. As a team, the Golden Eagles hitting hitting percentage was .163.  

The Golden Eagles are back in action Friday when they take on Northeastern Junior College at 8 a.m. and Colorado Northwestern Community College at 6 p.m. in day one of the WyoBraska in Torrington, Wyoming.
