Volleyball Drops First Two Matches in Idaho

TWIN FALLS, ID – Laramie County Community College volleyball had some tough matches and dropped a pair of matches on Friday against #9 Salt Lake Community College (3-0) and (RV) Utah State University – Eastern (3-0). The Golden Eagles fall to 1-10 on the year.

The Golden Eagles fell to Salt Lake (20-25, 18-25, 15-25) and USU- Eastern (17-25, 21-25, 19-25).

In the first match on Friday, sophomore Cassidy Nelson (South Jordan, Utah) led the Golden Eagles with 11 kills and sophomore Cameron Callahan (Parker, Colorado) added five kills. Sophomore setter Gwen Sheldon (Loveland, Colorado) had 18 assists in the loss. Sophomore Kendzee Cloward (South Jordan, Utah) added 13 digs in the match. Kalme Moncavo (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Kyla Childers (Parker, Colorado) had four kills.

In the loss against USU-Eastern, Nelson had nine kills, three digs and two aces. Sophomore McKayla Earl (Rawlins, Wyoming) also had two aces. Earl also had a team-high 11 digs. Callahan finished with six kills.

LCCC play two more matches tomorrow at the Starr Invitational against Missouri State University- West Plains and #14 College of Southern Idaho.
